
A roof can become uncomfortable or develop moisture problems even when insulation has been installed. Performance depends on continuity, air movement, vapour behaviour, water entry, thermal bridges and the way the ceiling and roof layers are assembled.
Identify the moisture source
Water may enter from rain, plumbing, wet construction, indoor humidity or condensation on a cold surface. The remedy depends on the source, so visual inspection and operating conditions should be reviewed before adding material.
Keep insulation continuous
Gaps, compression and interruptions around purlins, lights, ducts and access openings reduce effective performance. Supports and facings should match the selected product and roof build-up.
Coordinate vapour and air control
The correct position of vapour-control layers depends on climate, indoor humidity and assembly. Unplanned polyethylene, foil or sealed cavities can trap moisture, so the full roof section should be reviewed.
Protect drainage and ventilation
Roof slope, overlaps, flashings, gutters, ridge details and ventilation paths should remain clear. Insulation should not hide unresolved leaks or block designed airflow.
